2019 PhD in composition and rhetoric with experience in higher education administration, teaching, advising, tutoring and editing, disability services, curriculum development, K-12 inclusive education (interpreting), professional development design and instruction, and database design.
Dissertation topic: Rural Rhetorics and Ritual Practices: Women’s Negotiation and Sponsorship of Mutual Rhetorical Education in the Early Grange.
Carolyn Ostrander has multiple skills in educational and technical areas including administrative, advising and data administration as well as teaching composition and rhetoric at the university level. She models and teaches best practices and research, writing and presentation both in the classroom and in her commitments to the community.
Prior work in disability services, work with Honors students, staff and faculty online and on campus round out a strong set of skills for teaching and advising students from diverse backgrounds. Her classes use a versatile multimedia and multilingual approach to communicating in the 21st century. A background in linguistics and language acquisition, training in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and experience working with families and educators in the area of Deaf education expand her capability to work with students who have a broad range of language backgrounds and experiences.
